Project Wave Power
Oregon Institute Of Technology’s renewable energy department needed some help designing the mechanical aspect of an experimental offshore energy generation device. I drafted this technical drawing set with assembly instructions, part numbers, and proper geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
This project posed several interesting design problems. Firstly, the device needed to withstand the harsh environments of the open ocean. Next the device needed to be water tight. Keeping water out as the internal volume expanded and shrank was a difficult. The chosen solution was a pressure relief tube that balanced the pressure.
