Jeld-Wen

I’d like to first acknowledge the importance of this industry within the community of Klamath Falls. Jeld-Wen windows and doors has provided many people with work for many years.

Klamath is relatively small when it comes to industry. Many people receive good education from Oregon Tech, while some stick around and work for company’s such as Jeld-Wen, many leave town to seek higher paying jobs elsewhere.

Fiber products are one of the biggest parts of industry within Klamath falls. The river has been transporting logs for dozens of years

Unfortunately no one has been talking about the environmental impact this industry has upon our land, water, and wildlife.

This is part of the dust collection system at the Jeld-Wen windows and door plant. Sitting out in the open are some of the loudest blowers. They run day and night polluting the surrounding area with noise. Sound travels very far, and the blower noise can be heard from clear across the lake.

The folks at Scientific Dust Collectors take fan acoustics very seriously. According to them “A Fan Silencer or "Sound Trap" refers to an apparatus that contains a packing material (most commonly fiberglass) that will absorb and dissipate the sound created by the fan. ”. 1. By installing fan silencers on the dust collection system at Jeld-Wen, overall noise pollution will be reduced. This will increase property value and decrease environmental impact on local wildlife.

The Lakeport Market used to be a great stop for many workers in the area. It now lies vacant. If local noise pollution was addressed, this market may once again prosper.

Lets keep klamath lake free of pollution and bring small business back to the basin. Hold Jeld-Wen accountable for noise pollution.
